Demographic Information

Of a population of 28 105 (ABS, 2009 Estmated Resident Population), the City of Fremantle, or Freo as it is known to the locals, is home to 6 204 families with children under 15 and/or dependent students. (ABS Census 2006). Often misspelt as Freemantle, Fremantle (City of) occupies a land area of 19km2 and is a coastal area of Perth, Western Australia. Fremantle was named after Captain Charles Howe Fremantle, an English naval officer. To the Noongar people, the Fremantle area was known as Walyalup.

The Town of East Fremantle covers 3km2 and is home to 7 448 people (ABS, 2009 Estmated Resident Population) comprising of 1 712 families with children under 15 and/or dependent students. (ABS Census 2006).
